Weekend 9
3/30/13
At the BU Trophy on the Charles river, Jesse Thomas and Laura Tscheigg sailed in A division, and Elise Gehling and Kristen Kuzil sailed in B. The team saw variable conditions on Saturday, with breeze ranging from 3-12 knots and the direction shifting up to 180 degrees at times. After three sets in A fleet and 2 sets in B, the Huskies ended the day in 10th place. On Easter Sunday Northeastern stepped up to the competition. They sailed another 2 sets in A fleet, and another 3 in B. Thomas and Tscheigg sailed well, finishing up in 8th place. Gehling and Kuzil also had a strong day, getting a number of high finishes, including a bullet in the fourth set. They finished up in 5th place in B fleet, bring the team to a 6th place finish over all.

Northeastern also competed in their first team racing regatta of the season at MMA this weekend in the Herring Pond Team Racing Invitational. Matteo Alampi, Tori McGruer and Becker Awqatty skippered with Evan Gregory, Zach Shapiro and Emily Robinson crewing. The wind came from the North at 5-10 knots for most of the day, allowing for three full round robins on Saturday. Our sailors enjoyed the change of pace that came with team racing, and took a number of wins. The huskies finished the regatta in 3rd place overall.
